2026 Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival is coming!

Hi everyone! Lí hó! Tai gaˊ hoˋ!
Five years on, and we’re still here — gathering through film, story, and light.
We are pleased to announce that the 2026 Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival will be held on 21-23 May at ACMI. Please mark these days down and stay tuned for further announcements regarding ticketing!
This year our film festival centres around a powerful theme “Transition.”
“Transition” is perhaps most visible in Taiwan’s historical and political journey from authoritarianism to democracy. Yet, for those living through it, change often feels quiet and subtle — triggered by a short conversation, a photograph, or a fleeting moment with family. Featuring four remarkable and deeply moving personal stories, these films bring Taiwan’s past and present into a shared conversation.
Four films. Four ways of living through transition.
This will be a free event, and we are seeking sponsors to support the film festival. If you are interested in sponsoring the event to promote Taiwan studies and Taiwan films in Australia, please contact us! (ATSA is a charitable organisation registered under ACNC).
ATSA fee-paying members enjoy the privilege to book tickets in advance for events organised by ATSA. If you are not an ATSA member and would love to join us, please let us know!
